The Challenge

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) works from their Sydney office to reignite Australian interest in Hong Kong as a top travel destination, especially after the global travel slump caused by COVID-19. With the ‘Hello Hong Kong’ campaign, launched to showcase the city’s vibrant culture, dining, and events, they needed a giveaway for Australian travel expos and tourism workshops to capture the attention of travel agents, media, and potential visitors. Generic items like pens or brochures didn’t convey the campaign’s bold, welcoming energy or stick in people’s minds. HKTB sought an eco-friendly, functional gift tied to the ‘Hello Hong Kong’ message and kept Hong Kong at the top of Aussies' minds when planning their next trip. 

Our Solution

We crafted 200 full colour printed sticky notes, made from sustainable, FSC-certified recycled paper, each featuring the ‘Hello Hong Kong’ logo. These compact sticky notes were designed for travel agents to jot down client queries, media to note campaign highlights, or attendees to mark travel plans during expos and workshops across Australia. We ensured each sticky note was made and branded correctly for this project. During the design process, we kept in close contact with their team to give them updates on the design and the production timeline. We knew that HKTB had a packed schedule, so we fast-tracked the process and delivered all 200 sticky notes to the Sydney office on time.

The Outcome

The personalised sticky notes were a standout success. At a Melbourne travel expo, a travel agent used their pad to note client preferences for Hong Kong’s cultural festivals, later sticking it on their desk as a daily prompt to promote the destination. Media reps and attendees integrated the notes into their routines—flagging articles, marking itineraries, or jotting down campaign details—each use reinforcing HKTB’s message. The recipients from the expos they joined in during that month loved these sticky notes. Some have asked for extra pads to give to their office mates. The campaign strengthened HKTB’s visibility in Australia, boosting interest in Hong Kong as a must-visit destination and fostering lasting connections with travel professionals.
